From 2006-2007, Leah Beidler lived in a rural part of Northwest, Haiti teaching and playing soccer. After her time there, she wanted to stay connected to the people of Haiti. In 2008, Leah had an idea of starting a summer camp in the same village that she lived in for a year. In 2012, Growing Roots expanded into Cite Soleil. It is in both these zones that Growing Roots continues to thrive and partner with our community partners.
Where We Are Today
Growing Roots continues to travel to Haiti every summer to work with our community partners through Camp Hope, workshops, and a literacy program. All our summer programs provide work stipends to young men and women that want to support their communities. During times of crisis, we work with our partners in Haiti to provide food and water distributions.
